Gil Scott-Heron (Chicago, 1 de abril de 1949 - Nova York, 27 de maio de 2011) foi um músico e poeta, conhecido principalmente por seu trabalho como intérprete entre 1970 e 1980.

Seus trabalhos colaborativos com Brian Jackson caracterizam uma fusão musical genial de Jazz, Blues e Soul, bem como seu conteúdo lírico abordando questões sociais e políticas que ainda hoje soam tão atuais apesar dos tempos serem outros.

A primeira vez que ouvi o som desses manos foi no álbum duplo do Pregador Luo (RevoLUOção, 2003), na música Beijo da Discórdia, desde então fiquei atento aos trabalhos do grupo.

Eis que em 2009 eles finalmente lançaram um álbum intitulado Raízes, lançado de forma independente; Recentemente tive acesso ao álbum e resolvi compartilhar.

Massarock - Massarock (Coaxo do Sapo, 2010)

Com 2 bandas de peso: Rockers Control e Savages, este disco de Dub teve grande parte das gravações realizadas na imersão total da Coaxo do Sapo.

Massarock é Marietta Vital, cantora, estudante de harmonia e aspirante a compositora, interessada em arte e suas formas, que há mais de 15 anos ouve e canta reggae, dub, toadas, e o que mais sobrar. Tem considerável experiência como uma das vocalistas da extinta e groovada banda de Reggae nacional Afetos e também como integrante do Olho da Rua, grupo de percussão afrobrasileira liderado por Éder “o” Rocha.

Sempre teve natural e especial tendência ao Backing Vocal, e participou de algumas faixas em discos de grandes compositores nacionais. Desde os primórdios dentro da fundação do notável e pioneiro soundsystem paulista de reggae, dub e dancehall “Dubversão”, arrisca algumas melodias e mensagens ao microfone, passando a arrebentação do grave e valorizando a riqueza da espontaneidade e da frequência de voz feminina, bastante inspirada pelos original Deejays e Roots Singers Jamaicanos.

Vocalista e tecladista-base do Rockers Control, também da roqueira Sweet Flavour Band, como resultado de todos esses anos, lança seu play homônimo, “Massarock”, junto a Coaxo do Sapo e ao Dubversão, contando com a sólida participação do suingue de duas bandas, Rockers Control e Savages, além de algumas faixas programadas.

O disco conta com 3 versões e mais 11 composições fresquinhas. Tudo analogicamente mixado ao vivo na fita por YellowP, Victor Rice e Bigode. Ridiculamente espiritualista, Massarock confia muito na música, na beleza, no amor, na magia, e claro, na força feminina. Run it!
